I have always been an inquisitive person and consequently my artwork has been about exploration, either discovering something about our overall human experience or discovering something about our surroundings.

Originally, my sculptural artwork started off being primarily formal and organic with strong influences by Henry Moore and the philosophies of the “Forms of Japan”. Both Moore and the principles of Japanese Form deal with issues of sculpture by incorporating biomorphic abstraction, the later dealing more specifically with forces of nature. I usually prefer using a variety of casting materials such as; plaster, paper or metals, to portray the form in a way that will clearly express the interpretation of my ideals or concepts. As my work and ideas have grown, I have begun to focus more on my conceptual processes and trying to clearly communicate visually, my inner thoughts and feelings. This new conceptual direction has begun to influence my choice of materials and processes as well as bringing different artistic influences into my work, like Roberto Manini and David Smith.

Events people experience in our world are frequently portrayed or filtered through a negative perspective. As more insights are revealed to me, through life’s experiences, I would like to utilize my artwork to focus on a more positive outlook. I would like to share and explore hopeful and positive themes that also affect our existence. I hope to inspire people to search past the superficial experiences and try to discover the underlying significant feelings and spiritual understandings that can make our lives rich and rewarding.
